Rory McIlroy wins the Scottish Open by making birdies on the last two holes

Rory McIlroy won the Genesis Scottish Open with a score of two under par 68 on the last day of competition on Sunday.

This was McIlroy’s first victory on Scottish territory and gives him a boost of confidence heading into the season’s final major championship.

McIlroy was one shot behind Robert MacIntyre when he played the hill on the par-3 17th to almost perfection and made a birdie putt from four feet away to tie for the lead.

McIlroy won the tournament. After that, he made what McIlroy described as his “best shot of the year,” which was a 2-iron against the wind to 10 feet for a last birdie. This gave him the victory.

MacIntyre, who was trying to win his national open at the time, suffered a devastating loss, despite the fact that he had fired a class shot of his own.

MacIntyre pounded a 3-wood shot from the rough on the 18th hole at The Renaissance Club to within 4 feet, and he pumped both of his fists in celebration when the shot went in for a score of 64.

It was a shocking final round because the wind from the Firth of Forth was strong and never stopped. For a long time, it looked like it would give MacIntyre, who is only 26, the biggest win of his short career.

However, MacIntyre ended up finishing in second place, which was enough to earn him the title.

Instead, it was McIlroy who emerged victorious after shooting a 31 on the difficult back nine, capping off his victory with two clutch birdies.

This was McIlroy’s first victory since the Dubai Desert Classic.

The triumph came at the most opportune moment. McIlroy will attempt to stop his winless streak in major championships that has lasted for nine years when he competes in the Open

Championship at Royal Liverpool in the south. When The Open was held at Royal Liverpool for the final time in 2014, McIlroy was victorious and took home the claret jug.

McIlroy said”That was a tough day—so tough,”. “That was such a tough day.” “I’m incredibly proud of how I hung in there and was able to play the back nine in 4-under par, which led to my winning the championship.

I was able to hit some incredible shots in the last stretch. It gives one a fantastic feeling. Since my victory in Dubai, it feels like it’s been a long six months already.

I’ve given myself a lot of opportunities, and I’m hoping that this victory will be the one that really breaks the ice for me, especially heading into the next week.”

McIlroy clinched the tournament with a score of 265 and 15 under, moving him over Jon Rahm to the second spot in the world.

The best golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, shot a final-round score of 70 and finished in a three-way tie for third place with Byeong Hun An (70) and David Lingmerth (68).

In his last seven tournaments, two of which were major championships, Scheffler has finished in the top five each time.

Both An and Lingmerth were awarded a consolation prize in the form of a spot in The Open. This prize is given to the top three players who are not already exempt from the tournament.

The final slot at Royal Liverpool will be filled by Nicolai Hojgaard (67), who will be joining his twin brother Rasmus there.

The Scottish crowd at The Renaissance Club had been yelling MacIntyre’s name all week. They yelled again when he hit the 3-wood and birdie putt on the 18th, which is known as one of the hardest finishing holes on tour. MacIntyre triumphed in the competition.

MacIntyre was so immersed in the experience that he had to fight back the tears as he walked off the green.

“That was such a tough day—sso tough,” McIlroy said. “That was such a tough day.” “I’m incredibly proud of how I hung in there and was able to play the back nine in 4-under par, which led to my winning the championship.
