Red Bull decided to replace Nyck de Vries with Daniel Ricciardo in a show of ruthlessness

Red Bull decided to replace Nyck de Vries with Daniel Ricciardo!!. The failing Nyck de Vries has been replaced by Daniel Ricciardo, the Red Bull reserve driver, who has been promoted to a race seat at AlphaTauri.

Australian driver Mark Webber, a Formula One veteran and winner of eight races, will take over at AlphaTauri effective immediately and return to action at the following race in Hungary on July 23.

The transfer was announced as Ricciardo being “on loan” to Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri for the rest of the 2023 season. The athlete, who is 34 years old, expressed his excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to getting  reunited with the Red Bull family and back on track.”

Before joining Red Bull in 2014, Ricciardo raced for AlphaTauri for two years (2012 and 2013) under the Toro Rosso name.

After two seasons with Renault in 2019, he moved to McLaren in 2021 for another two years before being released at the end of 2022 due to poor performance.

The move is another example of how harshly Red Bull can treat underperforming drivers, and it comes as a devastating blow to rookie driver De Vries, who was released after just ten races.

As a former Formula E and F2 world champion, the 28-year-old Dutchman entered the sport with great hopes. He impressed on his debut, a substitute performance for Williams’ Alex Albon at Monza in 2022 when he finished ninth.

But De Vries has had a rough season so far. He has yet to score any points and isn’t even as qualified as his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who has a top finish of 12th.

The team’s principal Franz Tost said a few weeks ago that the upcoming races would determine his fate, so the pressure was on for him to improve. He could have done more.

Red Bull junior Liam Lawson, who now competes in the Japanese Super Formula series, had been considered for De Vries’ seat.

Ricciardo accepts Red Bull’s offer to drive as speculation about a job position within the company has increased.

Daniel Ricciardo

Red Bull’s financial support for Daniel Ricciardo ends??

He has won eight Grand Prix races and is now one of the most popular drivers in Formula 1. After Lewis Hamilton and Logan Sargeant, he was the most popular driver in the United States.

Because he is so well-known, the Milton Keynes team used him for promotional events throughout the season, which will now be left unfinished.

If he had done that, the team would have given him a hefty $6 million, $60,000 daily without driving a car.

He will lose considerable money in the long run because he will no longer be a Red Bull rep. Aside from his endorsement deals, his primary source of income will likely be the pay he gets from AlphaTauri.

The departure of Nyck de Vries from AlphaTauri

It was expected that Nyck de Vries would leave AlphaTauri because of his challenges and the public criticisms expressed by Helmut Marko, the motorsport boss at Red Bull.
